Ok. So we drive two hundred and sixty some odd miles North to Sault Ste. Marie with only a couple of stops here and there so the Mrs. can puke her guts out by the side of the road. She took a 600 Motrin on an empty stomach to cure a headache. The headache was gone but was replaced by nausea all the way to the Mackinaw Bridge. The weather was clear and dry and we enjoyed the numerous construction zone slowdowns to forty-five miles an hour. It gave us a chance to see a few trees despite the forest.
We checked into a motel right across the street from the Soo Locks. It had a bed hewn from the forest. There is nothing like sleeping on polished oak slabs for three nights to make you appreciate the mattress that you left behind. Our cell phone lost service somewhere near the top of "Big Mac". A fortunate thing for us because there was no phone in the room. We were cut off from the outside world for good and true. Nothing would interfere with our lakeside adventure...What a releif.
Just about the time the cell phones cut out the rain cut in with some intresting thunder and lightning thrown in by some pissed off Indian gods.
